About Dr. Buckelew and the Practice

Licensed Clinical Psychologist in Evanston and across participating PSY-PACT states

Dr. Buckelew on her vision and approach at
Elysian Mental Health

I founded Elysian Mental Health to create the kind of space I'd want to walk into as a client: calm, thoughtful, and designed entirely around the people in it. The name draws from the Elysian Fields of Greek mythology, a place of rest, restoration, and renewal after life's trials. That spirit shapes everything about how this practice runs. From the environment to the pace of care, every detail is intentional so you can step back from daily pressures, feel safe, and focus on the work that matters to you.
Therapy here feels conversational, not detached. We work together as collaborators to gain a deeper sense of what's happening, explore roots and patterns from your past that might be influencing the present, and find ways to do things differently. Some moments may feel heavy or challenging, but there is often levity or even humor, as well.
And when something feels unclear, whether it's a pattern you can't break, a diagnosis you've always wondered about, or just a feeling you can't quite put words to, we do the careful work together to figure it out. You leave with a clearer understanding of yourself, new skills and perspectives, and a thoughtful plan for what comes next.

Background & Experience

I earned my Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology from Adler University and completed my APA-accredited internship with Adler Community Health Services. My training spans psychiatric settings, medical hospitals, community mental health, and private practice. I'm licensed in Illinois, PSYPACT-certified for telehealth, and serve as adjunct faculty at The Chicago School of Professional Psychology. My doctoral research focused on women's mental health, parenthood, and domestic labor.

Let’s work together toward your goals.

For Professionals

In addition to clinical services, Dr. Buckelew offers consultation for psychologists and therapists seeking structured support in assessment, complex case conceptualization, and private practice development.
